Johnny has acted in, directed, or produced more than 100 productions on stage and film. As the founder of the Utah Repertory Theater Company, he has produced numerous plays and musicals throughout Utah, and the company is entering its 5th season. Johnny has worked in New York, California, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and in touring productions throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has worked with acclaimed composer Frank Willdhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Bonnie & Clyde), Tony nominated-actor Terrence Mann (Beauty & the Beast, Les Miserables, Pippin), Tony-nominated book writer Hunter Bell ([title of show]), award-winning musical theater composer Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days, Old Jews Telling Jokes) and Drama Desk-nominated and Outer Critics' Circle Award Winner Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers the Musical, Bat Boy, Legally Blonde: The Musical).
For Johnny's performance as Clyde Barrow in the regional premiere of Bonnie & Clyde, he received the Broadway World Award "Best Actor in a Musical." His direction of Bare the Musical earned him "Best Director" and Bare received "Best Musical of the Year" as well in the annual Broadway World Awards. Other favorite roles have included: Romeo in Terrence Mann's original adaptation of Romeo and Juliet the Rock Musical at The Lost Colony, CB in Dog Sees God at Silver Summit Theatre Company, Steve in Grace at Utah Rep, Cliff Bradshaw in Cabaret at Utah Rep, Mozart in Amadeus at the Florida School of the Arts and Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (a role he has performed 4 different times now, cumulating to more than 120 performances). Notable film/television credits include: Recurring role as Lewis Brightman III in the soap opera series Proper Manors, Matt in Shifted Dreams, and Tim in Make Me Laugh (Tocho Films). Orange (Full Sail), Sullivan Sisters (PAX TV), The Wilkinson's Boy Oh Boy Music Video (Angeline Entertainment), and a finalist on Fast Track to Fame TV Show (for his rendition of The Impossible Dream), along with numerous commercial credits. With an interest in contemporary and dark productions, Johnny has recently directed Parade, Side Show, Carousel, Bare, Carrie, Heathers, and The Bridges of Madison County.
